Doctor Bird?

Hi! Welcome to the Doctor Bird. We are happy you have dropped by. This page tells you a little bit about this blog.

What is a Doctor Bird?

A Doctor Bird is a streamer-tail hummingbird that is endemic to Jamaica. There is some controversy over whether the Black-billed Streamertail (found in Eastern Jamaica only) and the Red-billed Streamertail (found throughout the rest of the island) are two distinct species. There is no controversy over the fact that both birds are beautiful and interesting to watch. The Red-billed Streamertail is the national bird of Jamaica and is a ubiquitous emblem found throughout the country.
